Hypnotherapy for Agoraphobia Treatment
Agoraphobia is a diagnosis for people who experience panic and nervousness in public spaces or a sensation of loneliness in large crowds.
It may develop from another, underlying disorder such as Asperger’s syndrome or autism, though for many it stems from a fear of crime, terrorism, or simply being in a new environment.
People suffering from agoraphobia may experience:
- Rapid heartbeat
- Feelings of dizziness
- Unexplained weakness
These symptoms may make it difficult to leave the comfort of your home, go out to social events with friends, or hold down a customer-service based job. It may feel as though your symptoms only occur in a particular place and so you may avoid such situations to ensure the feelings do not happen again.
Negative connections to a certain place can manifest on a wider scale until you only feel safe inside your house, which is perhaps the most extreme negative outcome of such a phobia.
This can be upsetting for your family and friends, who may not understand why you feel such intense fear and panic in public even if they are around to protect you. Most social functions involve a number of people, especially if you live near a busy town or city, and it can be frustrating when your loved ones want to take you out for dinner or go to the theatre, but you worry that you will be too anxious to enjoy yourself. It can be tough for them but more frustrating for you, and you may feel ashamed because you are paralysed from doing basic daily tasks.
Hypnotherapy is an effective treatment for these anxious feelings in social situations. By identifying the primary cause of your phobia and working with your subconscious mind, the Advanced Hypnosis London hypnotherapists can help you to naturally and effectively overcome the negative associations you have with large crowds or open spaces, coming to grips with situations that may produce an agoraphobic response.
Hypnosis makes the basic changes to your perceptions and ideas about the world around you, providing you with the skills to form new behaviours and a healthier relationship with your environment. You will be able to attend job interviews with confidence and stability, as well as attend group functions without anxiety or panic.
