Hypnosis for Confidence
Confidence and self-esteem issues are very common, especially in highly competitive environments such as universities or work spaces.
The desire to achieve success and impress others is instilled within us from an early age, through mainstream media, the academic system and even in our family life.
Living in the midst of intensely competitive environments can make you feel as though you should be constantly maintaining higher and higher standards, or accomplishing new, more impressive goals. Some feel the pressure to always fulfill specific standards of beauty which may be unobtainable. Others feel forced into uncharacteristic behaviour in an attempt to look or act a certain way according to what they believe is demanded of them.
Ideally adulthood brings with it an assured and strong sense of self-confidence, where you no longer suffer the ill effects of self-doubt and uncertainty. However, for many people insecurity is an issue that continues beyond adolescence. Modesty and an ability to asses one’s strengths and weaknesses are both positive traits , but when an individuals suffers from a lack of self-confidence they may believe they are worthless or useless compared to the majority of others. People with low self-esteem may:
- Believe they are not an important person
- Think that their opinions do not matter or contribute any substance
- Believe they are undeserving of happiness
- Have an inability to acknowledge their positive and special qualities or achievements as an individual
The pessimistic outlook you have about yourself can reflect how you view life and the world around you. A lack of self-confidence can hinder you from attempting something challenging because before you even try, you believe that you will only fail. You may not fully prepare for, or even attend, a job interview, feeling as though you are being judged or that nothing you say can give you an advantage on the competition. Low self-esteem can cause you to disregard or abandon meaningful relationships because you may believe your significant other deserves somebody better than you. Having such a negative opinion of oneself can lead an individual to push others away, isolating themselves from friends, family and loved ones.
Having problems with appreciating yourself can have an effect on your quality of life, but it is never too late to boost self-confidence, turn your outlook around and value yourself as a person. Hypnotherapy can help you to strengthen and develop your sense of self-confidence.
